The idea was to help people invest better.
We studied what was out there. We looked at some research on habits and investing. We looked at what type of investing that was still not tapped into much. So we came up with the idea to make Acorns but for Crypto.
And we came up with the name Crumbs - from little crumbs to a big pie.
We put together a roadmap of what we needed to build. We kept it simple. The goal was to build something small and simple, but that worked well and felt like magic.
We put together some sketches of the landing page to help us conceptualize what we were offering. And we started building the storyboard to map out the user journey.
It was time to start cooking. And on high pressure.
Because we stuck to keeping it simple and focusing on making it smooth, we were able to stick to the timeline. And we came up with something that we were proud of. And something we wanted to show the world.
We put Crumbs out there and started waving our hands to get some attention.
Folks really liked it. We had more signups than we expected.
We realized building banking stuff comes with a lot of regulatory requirements. We were breaking laws in almost every state. So we had to shut down for a bit to get that sorted out.
We got our ducks in a row and re-launched.
We had a lot of enthusiastic users. It was during a big crypto bull run. People were excited to invest in crypto. And Crumbs was a fun way to do it.
Just less than 5 months after the intial MVP launch, Crumbs got a acquired by MetalPay 🥳
We built a product that people loved. We got a lot of traction. And we got acquired.
There was a lot of hard work behind it, but it was also compounded by a lot of luck. We had the right timing, there wasn't a lot of competition, and we were able to build something that people loved.
So you've been sitting on that idea for a while...
You've been daydreaming and dissociating.
But now you're ready to start.
